HYDERABAD: A three-week inter-departmental (Boys) championship on Tuesday was concluded at the University of Sindh (SU) in Jamshoro. Vice Chancellor SU Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat as the Chief Guest of the occasion congratulated the ‘active’ squad of sports management upon successful organisation and execution of competitions. He said that sports serve as a vital component of healthy, hygienic and vibrant life. “I announce with great pride and honour that we are paying attention towards sports at SU. We consider it as an integral part of academic career of students who excel at provincial and national level by their extraordinary performances to achieve top prizes,” Dr Burfat said. Earlier, Vice Chairman SU Sports Board Dr Mahmood-ul- Hassan Mughal welcomed the guests, whereas, Director Sports Boys Ajwed Ahmed Bhatti shared the details of sports gala and announced the particulars of triumphant teams. The championships featured intriguing competitions of cricket, tag of war, badminton, table tennis and athletics. Physical Education Centre, Sports and Health Sciences, Institute of Commerce, and Institute of Information and Communication Technology secured three top positions in cricket respectively. Top three positions of table tennis competition were secured by Physical Education Centre, Health and Sports Sciences, Institute of Business Administration and IICT respectively. CPEH & SS, IICT and IOC clinched top three positions in tug of war competition. Athletics competitions were won by CPEH & SS, IBA and IICT, respectively. Published in Daily Times, April 11th 2018.
