KUALA LUMPUR: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Tuesday moved the venue of the Asia Cup 2018 from India to Dubai citing reservations of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). PCB Chairman Najam Sethi headed the annual meeting of the ACC in Kuala Lumpur, during which it was decided that the Asia Cup will be shifted to UAE after Pakistan expressed reservations over playing in India. The Asia Cup, which would be played from September 13 to September 28, will consists of six countries with five teams, including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, guaranteed a spot. Hongkong, Nepal, Oman, Malaysia, UAE and Singapore will compete in the qualifiers to determine the sixth team to compete in the tournament. Meanwhile, the 2018 Emerging Teams’ Asia Cup will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Originally scheduled for April, the tournament has been moved to December. Pakistan will also play host to the next ACC Annual General Meeting, which will be held later this year.
