LARKANA: Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Medical Superintendent Dr Ali Gohar Dahri has claimed that only Emergency Department could be upgraded since his appointment at the hospital. He was addressing a press conference at Larkana press Club on Sunday along with Dr. Ahmed Ali Brohi. He said that the video clip was recorded in 2017 in which Chief Justice gave his remarks about CMCH and since then significant improvement has been made. He said that pathological laboratory has been established in the Casualty that operates 24 hours a day. X-Ray and Ultasound machines had been provided to the patients. Dr. Dahri said that the patients’ registration process and medical store had been computerized. He said that central oxygen system and monitors were required for two wards of medical and surgery that were being established. He said that the trauma center has also being made functional where lower staff would be posted. Burn ward would be shifted to emergency ward as old building is small. 14 dialysis machines have been operating and four were dysfunctional and health department has been informed to provide 10 new machines. He said that two WRO Plants of Dialysis Center were repaired and three new plants would soon be installed. He said that the largest hospital of upper Sindh has no ambulance with ventilator and there has been acute shortage of new ambulances He demanded Sindh government to provide six new ambulances with at least two ventilators installed. Incinerator has been made functional and Shaikh Zayed Hospital for Women requires new machine. He said the samples of underground water of four blocks of CMCH had turned out to be arsenic as per tests and subsoil water contained over 1000 TDR which should be 400 for normal water. He claimed that MNA Faryal Talpur had assured to provide funds for installation of new RO plants at all blocks of CMCH. He said that the Child Life Foundation has been establishing modern emergency ward in Shaikh Zayed Hospital for Women that only was available in Karachi at the moment. He said the infrastructure has been provided to the foundation and the ward would be functional within a month. Furthermore, he claimed that medicines and tests were free of cost and indoor patients were facilitated with them. Staff said that cleanliness of the Emergency Department had been given on contract costing 350,000 Rupee per month. Cleanliness and issues of other blocks were still unresolved and significant improvement could not been achieved as yet. Published in Daily Times, April 2nd 2018.
