LAHORE/NANKANA SAHIB: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday said that there will not be any sort of martial law in the country.

“Continuation of democracy will prevail and there will not be any judicial or some other martial law in the country,” PM Abbasi said while speaking at a ceremony in Lahore.

He added that in the forthcoming elections, the decision of public will be accepted wholeheartedly and that the next government will be elected via the power of vote.

Lauding Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, Abbasi said that the ruling party has overcome great challenges within limited resources.

“Energy crisis in 2013 were at peak. The government produced over 10 thousand megawatts of electricity via direct and alternative means, and this would help Pakistan for years to come,” PM remarked.

In another speech at a rally in Nakana Sahib on Saturday, the premier praised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for working for the welfare of the people.

“The public loves Nawaz due to his performance. Those who work for the people are summoned for hearings, while those who have not done anything for Pakistan live free overseas,” Abbasi said.

The premier also lashed out at Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, terming his appointment in the Upper House as an ‘insult’.

“Senate Chairman was elected via horse trading. Such an appointment is an insult and the Chairman has no reputation in public,” Abbasi said.

The PM also demanded that Sadiq Sanjrani be removed from his post and a unanimous Senate chairman be elected in his place.
