LAHORE: Showing its reservations over the newly established boundaries of national and provincial constituencies, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a resolution in the Punjab Assembly Secretariat on Thursday.

The resolution was filed by the PTI’s legislator from PP-195 Javed Akhtar Insari in the Notice Branch of the assembly secretariat in which he expressed serious concerns of candidates, political workers and voters regarding new delimitations issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The mover of the resolution termed new delimitations of national and provincial constituencies “unnatural”, saying that union councils existing in one constituency had now been divided into two constituencies. The resolution showed serious concern over “non-inclusion” of some localities and villages into any constituency.

Following the disclosure of such unnatural division of constituencies, the PTI urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to restore the previous delimitations of the national and provincial assembly constituencies.

The resolution also suggested the Election Commission of Pakistan that it should divide the national assembly and provincial assemblies’ seats by including all localities into nearest constituencies.

Separately, another opposition legislator belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Amir Sultan Cheema also submitted a resolution in the assembly secretariat against quack doctors and demanded legal action against them.

In his resolution, Amir Sultan Cheema said that the Punjab government had failed to take action against quackery which was fast spreading HIV and other dangerous diseases among people. He also gave a reference of disclosing a case of 150 patients of HIV in Sargodha.

He urged the provincial government and the Health Department to not only take a serious action of against fake clinics but also arrest the quack doctors.

PML-Q’s Khadija Umar Farooqi also filed a calling attention notice in the Punjab Assembly secretariat regarding the alleged torture on three students by some influential persons in Gujrat district.
