No comparison at all

Author: Daily Times

Sir: One may agree or disagree with PTI’s politics but its opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmoodur Rashid, has quite rightly taken notice of the statement of newly-elected PML(N) President Shshbaz Sharif who has quite wrongly dared to draw a comparison between Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, with his elder brother and disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

I may add a point here to his mentioning the Father of the Nation never did use the national resources for living a luxurious life. It is often quoted anecdote that the Quaid-i-Azam as the first Governor General of Pakistan was seated in the official residence in Karachi when he noticed a staff member coming in with some household and other items. He called the staff member, took the voucher of items he had purchased and ticked marked each of item saying these are official, these one will be paid from my pocket and these will be paid by Fatima, whom we all respectfully call as the Madar-e-Millat.

At cabinet meeting, the ADC approached the Quaid-i-Azam as to what is to be served to the ministers and officials present, the Governor General said nothing, have not come after taking breakfast in their homes.

One who has quite ill-advisedly and wrongly compared his elder brother out of sheer emotions with the Father of the Nation cite any such one example whereas many such instances can be quoted about misuse and abuse of the official sources.
