Fazlur Rehman appointed Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal president

KARACHI: Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Fazlur Rehman was on Tuesday appointed as the president of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).

Speaking to the media after an all-parties meeting in Karachi, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Liaquat Baloch announced that the JUI-F was selected to lead the defunct MMA. Baloch himself was appointed as the General Secretary of the political alliance.

Fazlur Rehman, talking to the media after his appointment, congratulated the people of Pakistan on revival of MMA. “We have started a new journey today (with revival of MMA). All the participants would have equal right in decision making,” he added.

JI chief Sirajul Haq also termed the move as beginning of a new journey and said that MMA would serve as a representative of the general public.
