DUBAI: Veteran batsman and Multan Sultans skipper Shoaib Malik has become the first Pakistan player to appear in 300 Twenty20 matches. Malik reached the feat when he stepped into the field for his team’s Pakistan Super League match against Quetta Gladiators at Dubai Cricket Stadium on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old has played for 15 different teams, including Pakistan’s national side, and several domestic league teams during his T20 career span of 13 years. Malik also holds the honour of captaining different teams 97 times and with win percentage of over 69 percent, he is the most successful captain in the shortest format of the game. The all-rounder has led Pakistan, Comilla Victorians, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Pakistan International Airlines, Sialkot Region and Sialkot Stallions. He is also Pakistan’s leading run scorer in T20 cricket.
