KARACHI: Health experts on Thursday said that kidney related diseases were the eight most common cause of death in women all over the world including Pakistan, causing more than 600,000 deaths per year and approximately 195 million women were affected by it worldwide. This was stated by speakers at an event organized by the Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation (SIUT) to mark the World Kidney Day. Speaking on the occasion, renowned nephrologist Dr Rafia Shah while referring to figures by the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundation said that a Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) was more likely to develop in women than in men with an average of 14 percent prevalence in women and 12 percent in men.
