Don’t want to make acting my priority, says actor Sana Sarfaraz

Author: Haider Rifaat

For Sana Sarfaraz, acting was a stroke of luck and it took her far in her modeling career. She debuted as a supporting actress in Zindagi Gulzar Hai in 2012 and modeled for brands as chic as L’Oréal. I managed to get hold of Sana recently and she sure has a lot to say!

What has been your greatest personal accomplishment so far?

It was completing my Master’s degree in Media Sciences from SZABIST and securing a scholarship.

Do you think you have thrived in your career as you had anticipated?

Of course! Initially, I didn’t know anyone when I started. I was financially unstable and was studying at the same time. Being an introvert, I had no PR and never attended parties. On the basis of merit and hard work, I was able to come on surface.

Would you consider modeling a demanding profession?

Yes, indeed. It is an extremely demanding profession. You have to be on your toes all the time.

Sana thinks ‘to each his own’ is the best policy. “Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and that is fine. We all should be tolerant towards one another”

How do you cope with fellow actors/models who share differing viewpoints?

‘To each, his own’ is the best policy. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and that is fine. We all should be tolerant towards one another.

Are there any plans of making a television comeback?

Not really, until I get something worth my time and efforts.

How important is innovation and creativity in the field of arts?

It is a very important pillar; arts is all about creativity and innovation.

Do you think an introverted individual can be a successful artist?

Yes, if their work speaks for itself but there is no denying the fact that sadly, in today’s day and age, it is not talent that counts but communication skills that work wonders.

What activities do you enjoy when you are not working?

I watch TV, clean my room and cook.

How do you combat stage/on screen fright?

A few deep breaths and prayers.

What is your favorite holiday destination?

Malaysia

Are you more of a leader or follower?

I am always a leader.

As an actor, where do you see yourself next year?

Acting, for me was an accident when Sultana Siddiqui from HUM TV approached me for my character in Zindagi Gulzar Hai. I couldn’t say no to her as it was her urge to see me in that character and her love to teach me Urdu and work hard on my acting.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai was my debut drama and ever since I have received many offers but I turn them down simply because I don’t want to make acting my priority. I don’t see myself as an actor in the long run. I would rather be a humanitarian or entrepreneur; that is where my heart and soul is.

Sana has been there, done that! She has experienced glamour and arts altogether. What is next for her; humanitarianism or business? Regardless of what she chooses, as fans, we will continue to support her.
