LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a terror bid and arrested three alleged terrorists Tuesday night following a search operation carried out in the city’s Mughalpura area, a spokesperson for the force said Wednesday. The three arrested terrorists are said to be part of Daesh, a militant outfit banned in Pakistan, the spokesperson noted.Explosive materials, weapons, and devices were also recovered from the detained suspects, the CTD official added. A CTD spokesperson told the media that the arrested terrorists were identified as Shoaib-ur-Rehman, Abdur Rehman and Amir Saleem. He said that terrorists were planning to carry out terrorist attacks on law enforcement agencies in Lahore. The arrested terrorists were sifted to some undisclosed location for further interrogation. Meanwhile, at least 13 suspects were taken into custody during search operation conducted by police in different parts of Lahore on Tuesday night.According to details, the search operation was carried out in various localities of Badami Bagh, General Bus Stand, Naulakha, Shafiqabad and Naseerabad areas of the city. Police carried out search operation in residential areas around churches and educational institutions in these localities while bus stands, hotels and hostels were also checked. The law enforcement agencies also used biometric device for the identification of the residents and arrested 13 suspects who failed to provide any identification document.
