KARACHI: Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi demonstrated a protest in front of NADRA Director General office in Karsaz, Karachi on Wednesday. JI took its workers to the streets because NADRA had made lives of Karachiites miserable, against alleged bribery and indecent behaviour of the National Database & Registration Authority in Karachi. The activists were protesting holding placards and banners, chanting slogans against the authority. They were saying that the authority was doing injustice with all the communities living in Karachi. JI Chief Karachi Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced “Tehreek-e-Haqooq-e-Karachi” to sort out all the problems. He said that NADRA authorities had been using unfair means to increase the miseries of people, particularly Pashto and Bangladeshi speakers. “Don’t turn patriotic Pakistanis against the state,” he warned. While talking about NADRA, he said that organisation was taking bribe from the locals. DG NADRA assured to increase the staff in all offices adding that whose CINC has already been issued won’t be demanded for further documents. On DG NADRA’s comments, Hafiz Naeem said if things don’t get better, protest will be demonstrated before the Governor House. Published in Daily Times, February 22nd 2018.
