ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal Tuesday directed Inspector General of Police Islamabad to constitute reconciliation committees as part of efforts to introduce community policing in the capital city.

The minister was chairing the review meeting of the Interior Ministry here. National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) chairman, Federal Investigation Agency director general, IG Islamabad Police and officials of Islamabad district administration and interior ministry attended the meeting.

The minister said sports competitions should be held for improving physical fitness of the police. Modern technology should be used for putting in place the system of e-policing, he added.

The minister said the Federal Investigation Agency should review the list of tour operators and only credible tour operators should be included in the final list.

He said the work on computerization of land record in Islamabad should be expedited. The facility of online visa should be immediately started and the overseas Pakistanis should be given best facilities when they apply for identity cards and passports.

Ahsan Iqbal said the district administration should ensure implementation of timing of marriage halls as well as the one-dish policy.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has given approval for establishment of separate police stations and facilitation centres for overseas Pakistanis in Lahore, Gujranwala, DG Khan and Rawalpindi Division, said Chairman Task Force Overseas Pakistanis Rawalpindi Iftikhar Warsi.

Chairing a meeting held here on Tuesday, he heard 51 complaints related to police, tehsil municipal officers, Anti-Corruption Establishment, fake housing schemes, Rawalpindi Development Authority, Excise and Taxation Department and issued necessary orders for redressal of the complaints.

Special courts have been established for redressal of the complaints of the overseas Pakistans and dispensation of speedy justice to provide them relief, he said, adding that all the departments concerned had been directed to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis in accordance with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He said the officers concerned had been directed to make all-out efforts for resolution of the complaints of overseas Pakistanis within the shortest possible time and that any negligence on their part would not be tolerated.

Warsi said the main objective of the commission was not only to redress complaints of the overseas Pakistanis but also facilitate them in every possible manner and encourage them to invest in their own country.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Saddar Tasneem Ali Khan, DSP Investigation Mirza Tahir Sikandar, Tehsildaar Mansoor Ahmed, member OPF Qaiser Zaman, Malik Qaiser Awan, Chaudary Saqib, Malik Saeed and other officers concerned.
