Islamabad: State Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Monday that the country was nearing completion of the five-year term of a second democratically elected government in a row. She said those who had been announcing date after date for the fall of the government were left defeated. She was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a cricket tournament at National Ground in Islamabad. With the progress made in the war against terror, sports and cultural activities were undergoing a revival in the country, she said, adding that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would soon announce a package for the revival of the film industry. Marriyum further said that the Ministry of Information was in the process of bringing legislation for protection of the rights of working journalists. She said that the decisions of the Supreme Court concerning journalist would be implemented in letter and spirit. Published in Daily Times, February 20th 2018.
