Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif haif have e a problem and Amitabh Bachchan has just the solution. Taking to Twitter late on Saturday night, Bachchan – fondly called Big B by his fans – shared a job application. Here is what his job application said, “Job Application : Amitabh Bachchan DOB 11.10.1942 .. age 76 .. 49 yrs experience in films .. approx 200 films acted .. speaks Hindi .. HEIGHT 6’2’’ .. available .. You shall never have height problem !!” It was Bachchan’s witty take on an article that said that tall actors like Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif have an issue working with actors such as Aamir Khan and Shahid Kapoor who are shorter than them. Thanks to the well entrenched gender roles, female actors are supposed to appear shorter than the male leads. Deepika, who is much taller than Kapoor, faced this problem in Padmaavat and the same issue was being faced by Katrina and Aamir in Thugs of Hindostan, the article said. Bachchan, who also stars in Thugs of Hindostan, found a solution and a hilarious one. The actor has often spoken about how his height was an impediment when he started working in the Hindi film industry. “Too thin and too tall,” is how filmmakers dismissed him when Bachchan was trying to make his debut in the industry. Then Saat Hindustani happened, followed by a string if flops till India found the true mettle of this actor. Now, 49 years later, he stays the tallest star of the industry – literally and figuratively. Now, we are waiting for what Katrina and Deepika have to say about this solution to their height woes. Deepika has worked with Bachchan in Piku while Katrina is appearing with him in Thugs of Hindostan. The film also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aamir Khan. On the work front, Big B was recently seen in a guest appearance in Pad Man. The actor will be starring in Brahmastra alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. The film is directed by Ayan Mukerji and is slated to release on August 15, 2019. He will be soon seen in Rishi Kapoor starrer 102 Not Out. Published in Daily Times, February 19th 2018.
