Trees For Life campaign kicks off at Shifa International Hospital

ISLAMABAD: Environment of Capital Development Authority (CDA) member Sanaullah Aman on Saturday kicked off the Trees For Life campaign by planting a sapling at Shifa International Hospital (SIH) with a pledge for a greener Pakistan.

The SIH organised the tree plantation ceremony to accelerate the Trees For Life campaign. It was part of the silver jubilee celebrations of SIH.

According to the SIH, a pledge was taken by all the participants to plant more trees in surrounding areas to protect the environment. It was also pledged that everyone will promote the culture of environment friendliness through recycling and using biodegradable materials in our daily life.

Sanaullah said that Shifa International Hospital was the best hospital. It was appreciable that it always took lead in public awareness activities. He explained the plantation campaign of CDA and made a commitment to make Islamabad greener. Sanaullah Aman suggested SIH to join CDA in this regard and play an active role in plantation.

SIH CEO Dr Manzoor H Qazi said Shifa was the first one to provide all services under one roof including diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical, nutrition needs, physical therapy and patient education. We were the first ones to recognise the importance of paramedical and support staff. He especially thanked the important role of media for advocating healthcare prevention and awareness as the national cause.

On successfully completing 25 years of service excellence in healthcare, he emphasised on creating a healthy environment.

“To promote the importance of plants, we choose to celebrate Shifa’s silver jubilee with yree plantation,” he said.

SIH Chairman Dr Habibur Rehman said Shifa continuously runs educational and training programmes for capacity building of medical, paramedical and technical staff. Shifa has also established systems and monitoring mechanisms to ensure patient safety.

Later, Dr Qazi presented a special souvenir to Aman.
