ISLAMABAD: was held at The 3rd International Conference on Education the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Saturday with the pledge to make academic research a tool to transform society. The conference, attended by eminent educationists from home and abroad, was arranged by the university’s Faculty of Education. It held 18 working sessions during which more than 120 research papers were presented. The inaugural session of the conference was addressed by former federal minister for Science & Technology Dr Attaur Rehman and the vice chancellor Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui. The keynote speakers at the conference included Dr Chaistopher James from USA, Dr Peter C Taylor from Australia and Dr Alastair Creelman from Sweden. They called for developing connectivity and collaborative partnership beyond the boundaries in order to achieve excellence in educational sector. In their addresses, the speakers underlined the need of educational challenges through shared vision. They also spoke about the transformation of learning in post-modern time. They highly praised Dr Shahid Siddiqui and his team for making the conference a productive one in highlighting the issues relating to research and practices in education. According to Dean of Education, Dr Nasir Mahmood, during the two-day event, there was a fruitful interaction among local and foreign experts on developing understanding about the new trends in the educational sector. The conference provided opportunity to scholars across the globe for dissemination of their research work for addressing the social phenomenon, besides highlighting the innovative methods and modes of research around the world, he added.
