KARACHI: Following the revelation of illegal allotments on 23 acres out of 400 acres allotted to a housing society in Deh Bitti Amri, Sector-10, Scheme-33 Karachi, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has asked the Board of Revenue (BoR) and Master Plan Department of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to submit relevant documents to investigation officials. NAB officials said that entities had been asked to cooperate with Umesh Chawla, NAB’s assistant director investigation (IW-1) in this regard. Mirza Saqib Baig, NAB deputy director coordination (IW-1), under vide letter 200611/1/IW-1/CO-B-NAB (K)/2017/938, January 31, 2018 had asked SBCA Director General and the Board of Revenue to provide requisite documents under the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. The bureau after preliminary inquiry and taking cognisance of the offence had asked these entities to furnish information and evidence whatsoever, which were relating to commission of said offence. In the light of record and statement of Mukhtiarkar along with original and attested photocopies of complete record pertaining to project, ‘Heaven City’, information were requested under section 19 and 27 of NAO, 1999. The said commercial project after its completion had already sold out structures and Aiq Baig, former executive director Master Plan and other involved officials would also be investigated in this connection, NAB officials maintained. The NAB said that builder of the project would also be inquired on the matter of illegal construction. The NAB vowed that every official found in this illegal act would not be spared from the sphere of investigation and in this regard a case had already been registered against involved officials and builder. Ahsanabad Cooperative Housing Society was granted land in 1974 and out several members out of total 4,000 had been facing encroachment menace. The illegal settlements on the land include Allah Bux Village, Qasim City and others. The society had claimed that a case had been filed against these encroachments.
