ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Working Group on Higher Education Reforms, comprising of senior academicians and expertise, has started preparing comprehensive proposals on higher education reforms which would be presented to the federal and provincial governments and all the political parties for inclusion in the forthcoming election manifestos. In this regard, proposals have been invited from the concerned stakeholders, the civil society and citizens through SMS, Whatsapp service and emails before February 16. These recommendations would be greatly helpful in addressing the challenges being faced by higher education sector in Pakistan. The recommendations would also include best international practices in higher education sector. The working group has also lamented over the non-implementation of constitutional provisions and Lahore High Court verdict regarding empowering provinces in higher education sector as eight years long delay has adversely affected the performance of higher education in Pakistan.
