LAHORE: The Safe City project is an excellent project of modern technology for maintenance of atmosphere of peace, safety of wealth and property of public. Problems of traffic management can be resolved preferentially by taking advantage from this safe city project. This was stated by Inspector General Police Punjab Captain (r) Arif Nawaz Khan while addressing a session of assessment of working of Safe City project on Friday. All senior officers of operational and investigation were present in the session. In the session, Punjab Safe City Authority MD DIG Ali Amir Malik briefed the IGP about the current progress of the project. “By this project, not only the activities of criminals will be observed, but the working of patrolling police and personnel deployed at pickets will also be monitored. Officers of SP rank should keep the field officers aware of current situation with the help of monitoring by cameras so that an in time and immediate proceedings may be started against culprits and anti social elements of society,” the IGP said. The IGP directed senior police officer that every possible step should be taken for maintaining peace especially clinching street criminals in to the grip of law by the help of cameras installed over roads in accordance with the parameters of modern policing. He said that the prime object of safe city and other modern technology based projects was to ensure the safety of property and lives of people and extermination of criminals from society therefore police officers these projects should be made better by keeping in view the parameters of contemporary age. He said that special attention should be given to the working of front desk projects and monitoring of personal deployed over this project should be ensured and divisional SPs and circle officers should give them weekly briefing about their duties in order to make progress of this project.
