DADU: Speakers at a seminar on Sunday demanded the establishment of child protection units in all towns of Sindh. The seminar was held on the topic of ‘Child Protection’ at Ladies Club Dadu. PML-N MPA Sourath Theabo said that it was wrong to arrange underage marriages of the girls in the society. The society has to step forward to create awareness among the people. It is our aim to protect children. The Kasur incident opened our eyes. We should never let it reoccur. We need to introduce a law in Sindh Assembly to stop violence against minor children and underage people,” she said. She said that federal government was working in Sindh because Sindh government was not working properly. She said that ministers of Sindh cabinet were using Rs 200 million on purchasing of vehicles. “However, the Sindh government has not established child protection units in the last 10 years. The Sindh government is responsible for the violence and physical harassment against children,” she said. Published in Daily Times, January 29th 2018.
