MITHI: A meeting was held at the office of Election Commission of Pakistan in Tharparkar on January 15 to verify the voters’ list and increase the registration ratio of voters. The meeting was headed by the Regional Election Commissioner Imran Ahmed. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “All of us will have to make efforts to increase women registration in voters list. MNA Faqeer Sher Mohammad Bilalani said that NADRA was responsible for issuance of identity cards to the people of remote areas in Thar. District Election Commissioner Syed Amir Hussain Shah said collective efforts were needed for the purpose. He said that political, social and district administration should highlight the importance of right to vote. He said that that the number of polling stations would be increased throughout the district for the ease of people in upcoming elections, and added that 648 polling stations would be set up in the district in the upcoming elections.
