MADRID: Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane hopes his side’s 1-0 away win against second-tier Leganes on Friday in Copa Del Rey quarter-final fixture would turn things around for the struggling European and Spanish champions. With Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale rested, Madrid injected youth and inexperience in their line-up. The Los Blancos struggled to find the rhythm and fluidity throughout the game, but managed to score a late winner a minute before full-time through Marco Asensio. Coach Zidane said Madrid’s recent performances have been below-par and that confidence at the Santiago Bernabeu is low but hopes that his team victory against Leganes turns things around. “We have to get back to winning games, keeping clean sheets. Today was a step that way. We cannot say we played a great game, but we got an important result in the tie,” the tactician was quoted as saying the ESPN. “We hope this is a turning point. We are happy with the result. We need this for confidence. Sometimes things get a bit more difficult, but we must be patient and know we can come through all together,” Zidane added. The second leg of the quarter-final fixture between the two teams will take place at Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday.
