SUKKUR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said on Saturday that NGOs such as the Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO) and private welfare organisations were carrying out a commendable job by looking after people at grassroots level in far-flung rural areas of the country. He was talking the media after visiting the SRSO and its education projects. “Such programmes are essentially required to ensure a continued improvement in standard of life in this country. The PPP has always worked with NGOs and social organisations because public-private partnership is beneficial to masses and helped bringing about prosperity in society. It also created employment and business opportunities,” he said. He assured extending financial and administrative support to SRSO to implement the programme. “The Sindh government is discharging its duty for alleviating poverty and promoting education at UC level,” he said. Senior Manager Social Services Sector Naimatullah Sheikh said that SRSO had signed an agreement with Community Development Programme (CDP), Planning and Development Department and government of Sindh. He said that the specific objectives was to provide quality education to children of rural areas in respective districts through clustering of school facilities to three schools, including Garhi Sahib Khan Taluka Garhi Yaseen district Shikarpur, Sohrab Khan Pahore Taluka Kanpur district Shikarpur and Bahdur Khan Koso Taluka Tangwahani district Kashmore-Kandhkot. “The project was designed to bring children to schools by providing a conducive educational environment and reduce and prevent dropouts together with providing skilled teaching staff and educational kit,” he said. The PPP chairman said that the required funds would be allocated in this regard. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Minister for Planning and Development, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, leader of Opposition, Khursheed Shah, former CM Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah, Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Chairman SRSO/RSPN Shoib Sultan Khan, CEO, SRSO Dital Kalhoro and others were also present.
