Sir: It is quite good to note that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the provincial authorities concerned to formulate and present within the next seven days a comprehensive plan to develop beautiful gardens in all divisional headquarters of the province. The chief minister gave this directive while presiding over a meeting in Lahore the other day at which he also accorded approval for a landscaping plan for the Beijing Underpass in the provincial metropolis. According to reports in the newspapers, the meeting also reviewed the progress regarding the landscaping plan and the horticultural projects of the Beijing Underpass and Ring Road Southern Loop both of which have recently been inaugurated one after the other. The chief minister said that the landscaping of the Beijing Underpass must be completed within two months assuring there will be no paucity of funds to hinder the project and also directed that a state of the art landscaping plan be developed on a priority basis for the underpass as encroachments and hanging wires adversely affect the beauty of the provincial capital city. He quite rightly reiterated that the provincial government has promoted the culture of horticulture in the province and development projects have been made attractive and beautiful through dexterous use of horticulture asserting that the qualitative, speedy and transparent completion of development projects is our policy and the same strategy should be adopted for working on horticulture schemes. Quite obviously, when the landscaping and horticulture plans of the city projects are completed in due course of time, those passing through the Beijing Underpass and the Ring Road Southern Loop will be duly enjoying and appreciating absorbing and beautiful views all around.
