LAHORE: Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has accused Israel and the United States(US) of supporting the anti-government protests in Iran. Turkey is against foreign interventions in Iran, Cavusoglu was quoted as saying by CNN Turk on Wednesday. The foreign minister also said that Turkey had not made any assurances to the US in the resolution of a months-long row which had led to the two countries suspending visa services. Cavusoglu would meet his German counterpart Sigmar Gabriel on Saturday, the broadcaster further claimed. As many as 22 people have been killed in clashes between protesters and security forces during the recent wave of anti-government protests in Iran. It represents the biggest challenge to the Islamic regime since mass demonstrations in 2009. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had accused the “enemies of Iran” of meddling in the country’s affairs.
