LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has formed special dairy safety teams to check milk adulteration in the Punjab. The teams will start field work this month. This was revealed by Director General PFA Noorul Amin Mengal while talking to the media n Sunday. PFA teams under the supervision of Noorul Amin Mengal and Minister for Food Bilal Yaseen have held pickets and discarded 2,000 litres of adulterated milk by erecting screening check on the entry and exit points of the city. The DG said that all milk was discarded over proved adulteration of chemicals in milk and presence of water during milk sample testing which was being transported for sale in city. PFA will deal the adulterators iron handedly and make things hard for them. He said that sale of loose milk will be completely banned within five years immediately and pasteurization is only solution to complete elimination of adulteration milk. Bilal Yaseen appreciated PFA teams for taking action against them at early morning. He said that PFA had stopped the supply of ‘poisoned milk’ from recovered dozen of vehicles and spilt on the spot. He said that Punjab government is utilizing resources to control the adulteration of milk. Meanwhile, Lahore General Hospital has started new treatment for patients of Prostate problems, which is more effective especially for heart patients who already have peacemakers. According to the details, this machine is worth Rs 30,000. It has been donated for the Lahore General Hospital with the special efforts of Prof Dr Muhammad Nazir, who has completed four successful operation through this system already and patients have fully recovered. Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Ghiasun Nabi Tayyab expressed satisfaction and said that this los cost and more beneficial for the patients as it was costing around rupees three lakh in the private sector while in General Hospital it would be almost free of cost. He lauded the efforts of Prof Dr Mohammad Nazir and said that in LGH many achievements have been made in different sectors and maximum medical facilities were being provided to the patients not only from Lahore district, but from all over the Punjab.
