LAHORE: Former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said on Saturday that if sit-ins were allowed to continue, mobs would rule over Pakistan. While talking to the media in Taxila, he said that if such protests were allowed to continue in the country, everyone would be able to get their demands approved no matter how unreasonable they are. He also said that if the country is to progress, such protests must end otherwise, mobs would rule the country. He added that he was not against protests given that protest is a right that democracy protects but was against those protests that disrupt the daily routine of the civilians. Talking about the violence that happened during the recent Faizabad sit-in, he said that no one should be allowed to occupy Faizabad Interchange again. Nisar also said that he has never engaged in politics of violence nor would he ever engage in such politics in the future. When asked whether the government would be able to complete its tenure, he said that the question should be asked form the government instead. In a reference to his criticism of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), he said, “I still stand by my words because I believe that one should not target the entire judiciary, nor should one target the army.” He added that he had advised former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to restrain himself from criticising the army because it would cause damage to PML-N during the 2018 general election.
