ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal has sought complete details of inquiries, investigations and under-trial corruption references filed in the respective accountability courts by the bureau and sought a report from operation and prosecution divisions of NAB. He sought the details of as many as 499 inquiries, 287 investigations and 1,138 under-trial corruption references filed by NAB in accountability courts. According to a statement, the chairman wanted to know that why these cases have not been concluded in 10 months prescribed time period as per standard operating procedure, and what action has been taken against responsible officers on failure to conclude logically all under process cases within speculated time period as per law and have been sought about failure to inquire and investigate the cases. He has directed the divisions concerned of the NAB to file an application for early hearing of 1,138 under-trial corruption references so that over Rs 900 billion looted money could be recovered from the corrupt.
