Sir: A five-month old baby has proven that authorities are silent in terms of eradicating dangerous diseases. The polio drops failed to secure the child as he had gotten polio drops before. The child lost both of his legs. Apart from this, polio officials said that as a result of malnutrition, polio drops could not save him. More than three months ago in Karachi, a seven year old boy faced the same fate. Three years ago, 23 polio cases occurred in Karachi.Karachi has a population of 2.4 million children under the age of five years old who are still waiting to be protected from such dangerous diseases. One polio official uttered that everyone should vaccinate their children because they have a big number to project. The virus is present in the environment and the malnourished children can be affected most adversely. Sindh health departments are requested to act fast and parents in Karachi should cooperate with them for the sake of their children.YOUSAF WAFATurbatPublished in Daily Times, December 7th 2017.
