Instagram adds long-awaited profile rearrange feature

Instagram rolls out long-awaited grid customization and more creative features

Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to rearrange posts on their profile grid, fulfilling a long-standing request from users who wanted more control over how their profiles appear.

The feature was announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri nearly a year ago and has now been officially rolled out to users worldwide. It gives users the ability to customise the layout of their profile by moving posts into any position, regardless of when they were originally published.

Previously, Instagram profiles displayed posts in chronological order, with the most recent content appearing at the top. This meant older posts gradually moved down the grid over time, making it difficult for users to highlight specific content.

With the new update, users will now see a “reorder” option in their profile settings. Through this tool, they can drag and reposition posts freely, allowing them to place older but important images or videos at the top of their profile grid.

The company said the update was designed to give users greater creative control over their profiles and to make it easier to curate content in a more personalised way. The feature is especially useful for influencers, creators and businesses who want to highlight specific posts for branding or promotional purposes.

Instagram stated that the demand for this feature had been consistent for years, as users wanted more flexibility in how their profiles are presented. By enabling post rearrangement, the platform aims to enhance user experience and allow for more visually appealing profile layouts.

The update is now available globally and can be accessed through the profile settings menu. Users can experiment with different layouts without affecting the original posting dates of their content.

With this change, Instagram continues its focus on improving customisation tools, giving users more freedom to shape their digital identity on the platform.
