KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the Ministry of Railways was creating hurdles in the revival of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project. In a meeting to discuss preparation for upcoming meeting on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)-related Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), he was told that the railways authorities were reluctant to hand over the Karachi Urban Transport Company (KUTC) to the provincial government. “Moreover, they were also reluctant to hand over the portion of railway track right from City Station to Drigh Road Station for the KCR.” Murad said that the railways land in Sindh belonged to the provincial government and it would be used for the benefit of people of the province in general and for Karachiites in particular. He asked Sindh Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon to talk to railway authorities in this regard, and added he would also talk to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to get the issue resolved.
