ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz on Thursday welcomed the Turkish government’s interest in developing various educational and health institutions, especially in Islamabad. He was talking to a Turkish delegation that called on him at his office. The mayor said that the CDA would provide all help to Turkish government and its designated agencies for the purpose. “The present government of the PML-N believes in uplift of less developed sectors with a view to providing people best educational and healthcare facilities,” he said. He said that the CDA had taken a number of initiatives for the welfare of residents. “The Turkish interest in this respect was more than welcome and it will surely help the civic body to ensure even better services to the people. The Turkish government’s interest in partnering with CDA for up-gradation of CDA hospital and school is indeed a gracious step. It will bring people of both Turkey and Pakistan closer,” he said. The mayor assured the delegation that he would definitely look into the proposal of establishing a huge mosque on the pattern of Faisal Mosque in Islamabad. Earlier, the delegation told the chairman that Turkey, apart from other projects, was interested in establishing a huge mosque in Islamabad. The entire construction cost would be borne by the Turkish government, the delegation said. The delegation informed the chairman that Turkey was also interested in establishing quality schools. “The existing Pak-Turk schools shall also be handed over to new Turkish management,” they said. “The same management is also keen to not only impart modern training to Pakistani teachers, but also help CDA create new recreational facilities for the residents of Islamabad,” the delegation said.
