Donald Trump’s @realDonaldTrump account on Twitter was deactivated for a few minutes right around Thursday Afternoon . The first explanation Twitter gave was someone had deleted the account, someone who had access to that account, but someone who wasn’t Donald Trump himself. Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again. — Twitter Government (@TwitterGov) November 3, 2017 Upon further investigations Twitter authorities found out that the @realDonaldTrump account was deactivated on purpose by a customer services employee who was reportedly completing his last day at work for Twitter. Twitter authorities vowed to get to the bottom of this and stated that they are counducting a full internal investigation into the matter. They also claimed to be taking steps to avoid a similar situation in the future in another tweet two hours later. Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day. We are conducting a full internal review. https://t.co/mlarOgiaRF — Twitter Government (@TwitterGov) November 3, 2017 Here’s how twitter reacted to this sudden disappearance of the American president’s personal account from Twitter: I’m saving this picture of Trump’s Twitter account as a reminder that anything can happen with anyone no matter how big you are!! pic.twitter.com/09fpkODtM8 — Mrigank Tyagi (@TheMrigankTyagi) November 3, 2017 A Twitter user joked about the employee adding a certain sentence to his/her resume: Someone out there is about to put “deleted Donald Trump’s twitter account” on their resume… — Krysti Wilkinson (@krystiwithakay) November 3, 2017 Another user called this an explosive end to the employees twitter career: leaving your job at twitter after deleting trump’s account like pic.twitter.com/VjPopz8JMO — Alan White (@aljwhite) November 3, 2017 One Twitter user was against the idea of investigating the deactivation matter and raised question’s on how Trumps account got reactivated: Never mind investigating how Trump’s @twitter account was allowed to be de-activated, please find out why it was allowed to be re-activated! — Nigel Burtt (@enjaybeeassoc) November 3, 2017 Trump himself reacted to this ordeal via this tweet on Friday: My Twitter account was taken down for 11 minutes by a rogue employee. I guess the word must finally be getting out-and having an impact. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 3, 2017 The meaning of the word ‘impact’ in this latest tweet remains to be seen.
