Pakistani karatekas made the nation proud at the South Asian Karate Championship 2025 in Colombo, securing a total of nine medals. Among the standout performers was young Huzaifa Arshad, who claimed gold in the under-10 category with a powerful display of skill and determination.
The women’s team also made a strong impact, especially Areesha Nadeem, who bagged three medals in the under-21, 50kg category. Her silver and two bronze medals played a key role in boosting Pakistan’s overall performance at the event.
In kata events, Sairish Tassaduq won bronze in the individual category and helped the team earn another bronze alongside teammate Samrah Ijaz. Their coordination and technique impressed judges and earned praise from coaches.
Hasnain Jamil stood out in the men’s 75kg category with a solid all-round performance. He won three bronze medals across kumite and kata events, showing consistency and discipline throughout the competition.
Despite tough regional competition, Pakistan finished fifth in the overall standings with one gold, one silver, and seven bronze medals. The team’s efforts reflected strong training and rising talent in the sport.
India dominated the championship, finishing first with 59 medals, including 23 gold. Nepal claimed second with 50 medals, followed by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in third and fourth positions, respectively.
