A significant step towards improving urban sanitation and environmental protection is being taken in Kohat city with the establishment of an Integrated Resource Recovery Center (IRRC).
With the support of UNICEF and technical assistance from Akhtar Hameed Foundation, the project aims to dispose of urban waste in an environmentally safe manner and convert it into organic fertilizer. The project will recycle about 5 tons of waste daily, significantly improving the city’s cleanliness and contributing to agricultural development goals.
In this regard, a delegation of Akhtar Hameed Foundation recently met with the board of Directors of Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Kohat and Acting Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Saad to discuss project details, partnership modalities, and future plans.
The team also visited the dumping site and recycling plant in Muhammadzai to conduct a technical review for project implementation. Practical work on the project is expected to start in the next two months, marking an important milestone in Kohat’s journey towards a cleaner and greener environment.
