Pakistan commemorated the 26th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, with deep reverence and national pride. Across the country, special Quran recitations and prayers were held in mosques, where religious scholars prayed for the elevation of the martyr’s soul and paid homage to his heroic sacrifice.
Speaking at these gatherings, scholars highlighted the unmatched contributions of Pakistan’s armed forces. They emphasized that martyrs are the pride of the nation, and their sacrifices are a debt upon every citizen. “Nations that fail to honor their martyrs are disgraced,” scholars remarked, reaffirming that Captain Sher Khan’s legacy would live forever in the hearts of the people.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute, stating that Captain Karnal Sher Khan set an eternal example of patriotism, valor, and duty by laying down his life during the Kargil conflict. He recalled how even the enemy recognized Sher Khan’s unmatched bravery on the battlefield. The Prime Minister noted that Sher Khan’s legacy, and that of his family, is a source of immense national pride.
The Pakistan Armed Forces also honored their hero. According to ISPR, senior military leadership including COAS General Asim Munir, and the heads of the Navy and Air Force, paid rich tribute to Captain Sher Khan’s unparalleled courage and supreme sacrifice. ISPR highlighted that his actions during the Kargil War were a shining example of the army’s professionalism, bravery, and dedication.
Reaffirming their commitment, the armed forces stated that they would continue to defend the country with all their strength. They emphasized that the legacy of martyrs like Captain Sher Khan Shaheed is a guiding light for future generations and a pillar of strength for the nation. His story, filled with valor, loyalty, and selflessness, remains etched in the collective memory of Pakistan.
