Ali Nawaz wins silver for Pakistan at World Police Games 2025

Ali Nawaz, a proud son of Hyderabad and serving constable in Islamabad Police, has made history by clinching a silver medal in the 86kg cruiserweight category at the World Police and Fire Games 2025, in Birmingham Alabama, the USA.

In a thrilling final bout on Friday, Ali Nawaz narrowly lost to his Australian opponent in a split decision, falling short by just one point.

Talking to APP on phone from the USA, the talented boxer expressed both pride and gratitude. “Alhamdulillah, history has been made,” said an elated Ali.

“Winning the silver medal at the World Police Games is an honour not just for me but for the entire Islamabad Police and the people of Pakistan. I am the first-ever Pakistani police boxing athlete from Islamabad Police to achieve this distinction at this coveted global event.”

The talented boxer dedicated his silver medal to the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces and the “brave hearts of Islamabad Police.” He also extended heartfelt thanks to Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi for his unwavering support and facilitation throughout his journey.

“I sincerely thank IG Islamabad Police for backing me and facilitating my participation in these Games. His encouragement was a great source of motivation,” he added. Ali Nawaz proudly posed with the silver medal draped around his neck and the Pakistani flag in the backdrop, as seen in a celebratory post on his official social media page (@ali_nawaz.boxing). “Pakistan Zindabad! Islamabad Police Paindabad!” he wrote in the caption, evoking patriotic pride.

The World Police and Fire Games, themed “The Games of Heroes,” bring together law enforcement and emergency service personnel from across the globe, showcasing their athleticism and spirit. Ali’s achievement has not only uplifted Pakistan’s name on the international sports stage but also highlighted the growing talent within the country’s law enforcement community.

Earlier, on Thursday Furqan Khan earned the bronze medal in the 130 KG Greco-Roman Wrestling category at the World Police & Fire Games 2025.
