Social media users were left bewildered over the weekend as videos and photos appearing to show popular Pakistani actor Hania Aamir getting engaged went viral. The clip, which was widely circulated on Instagram and X, showed a young woman in a traditional printed ensemble, donning floral gajras and receiving congratulatory bouquets in what appeared to be a low-key engagement ceremony.
For many fans, it was a moment of surprise-and excitement-assuming that the “Mere Humsafar” star had quietly made her relationship official. However, within hours, observant fans and digital sleuths confirmed that the woman in the viral video was not Hania Aamir but social media influencer and blogger Bushra Memon, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the actress. Memon had posted the video herself, revealing that the man beside her was her fiancé, Omar Hussain.
The confusion was further amplified by Memon’s hairstyle, attire and expressions, all of which closely resembled Aamir’s widely recognised public persona.
Her followers, along with Hania Aamir’s massive fan base from both Pakistan and India, flooded the comments section with amused and perplexed reactions.
Hania Aamir, who made her cinematic debut with the film Janaan, has enjoyed immense popularity over the last decade. Her performance in the 2021 television drama Mere Humsafar cemented her as a household name and her 2024 project Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum was hailed as one of her most successful to date. Her fame has also crossed borders, particularly in India, where her rising popularity reportedly led to her casting in Indian Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming film Sardarji 3.
Despite the film facing release hurdles due to political tensions following the Pahalgam attack, Dosanjh insisted on retaining Aamir in the film-a testament to her growing influence.
