Russia and Pakistan are close to signing an agreement to build a new steel mill in Karachi. Russian Consul General Andrey Viktorovich Fedorov shared the update during an interview with an Arab news outlet. He said the project is expected to be finalized soon and will revive industrial cooperation that dates back to before the Cold War.
Fedorov stated that Russian and Pakistani experts are actively working on a framework for the new mill. He revealed that formal talks between the two countries took place on May 27, 2025. These talks marked an important step in restarting strategic investment ties.
The Russian team has already inspected the proposed location for the steel plant in Karachi. A second delegation is expected to visit Pakistan shortly to finalize planning and create a detailed roadmap. The team will also evaluate technical and financial aspects of the project.
According to Fedorov, this steel mill could bring major economic benefits. It would create jobs, boost production, and support Pakistan’s long-term industrial growth. He believes the project will be a symbol of renewed economic partnership between Moscow and Islamabad.
Both countries are working quickly to make the project a reality. The deal, if signed, would mark a major milestone in Pakistan-Russia relations and strengthen cooperation in energy and industry sectors. Further announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
