Pakistan’s explosive wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris is expected to be named the new vice-captain of the national T20 team, replacing Shadab Khan, who is currently sidelined due to injury.
According to sources, Shadab Khan has been suffering from pain in his right shoulder, and doctors have now recommended surgery. This development could keep him out of action for at least three months, including the upcoming Asia Cup.
As a result, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering Haris for the vice-captaincy in the shortest format, recognizing his recent performances and potential leadership qualities.
In the meantime, the announcement of Pakistan’s T20 squad for the Bangladesh tour is expected soon. Team officials have hinted at further changes in the squad due to Shadab’s unavailability.
Sufiyan Muqeem is likely to be included in the squad as Shadab’s replacement, while Agha Salman is expected to lead the side during the series.
This reshuffle comes as Pakistan looks to prepare a balanced and competitive team ahead of key international tournaments later this year.
