Despite clear directives from the Supreme Court, the registration of the Sardar Kora Khan Trust remains incomplete. In response, Mohsin Muzaffargarh has decided to initiate recovery of rent and outstanding dues from government departments using the trust’s dedicated land.
A meeting of the Sardar Kora Khan Trust Management Committee was held under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge Muzaffargarh, Qamar-uz-Zaman. The meeting was attended by ADCR Muzaffargarh (on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner), DPO Muzaffargarh Dr Rizwan Ahmed, and other committee members.
Sardar Muzaffar Khan Magsi, head of the Seraiki Revolutionary Council and petitioner in the Supreme Court case regarding the trust land, also attended. He demanded that the trust land be fully reclaimed from illegal occupants in line with the Supreme Court’s verdict, and a polytechnic institute be established on the site.
He also urged that schools operating under the trust pay teachers the government-mandated minimum wage, and that salary increments be linked to staff performance. The committee subsequently directed relevant departments to submit a report on the proposed institute.
Magsi further called for the establishment of regulations to ensure scholarships for deserving students and financial transparency in trust-run schools. He also demanded a policy that prohibits lot allottees from subletting property to others.
The meeting issued instructions to expedite the trust’s registration process, complete physical verification and demarcation of trust lands, and begin recovery of rent from the Livestock, Revenue, Municipal Committee, Rescue 1122, and other departments occupying trust land.
Additionally, the committee resolved to reassess land allocated under the trust in Jampur Tehsil of Rajanpur.
Participants reiterated that the income from Sardar Kora Khan’s thousands of acres would be used in accordance with his will-to fund education for poor and deserving students across the region.
