Civil, police officers working relationship has improved law, order situation: IG

A prestigious ceremony was held at the Central Police Office (CPO) here on Saturday to mark the badge-pinning of police officers promoted to the ranks of additional inspector general (Addl. IG) and deputy inspector general (DIG). Chief Secretary Punjab Mr. Zahid Akhtar Zaman graced the event as the chief guest while Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar was also present on the occasion.

Upon arrival at the CPO, the Chief Secretary paid tribute to the martyrs at the Police Shuhada Monument by offering Fateha and laying a floral wreath. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented him with a guard of honor.

The Chief Secretary and IG Punjab pinned badges on the newly-promoted officers and congratulated them. The families of the promoted officers were also in attendance, making the ceremony even more dignified and memorable.

In his address, the Chief Secretary expressed confidence in the promoted officers, urging them to exhibit exemplary leadership, discipline, and commitment to public service. He emphasized that the recent promotions in administrative and police services were the result of a ‘strict scrutiny’. He further stated that effective working relationships between civil and police officers have significantly contributed to improved law and order, governance, and economic stability in Punjab.

IG Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, in his remarks, acknowledged the pivotal role of Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman in driving police reforms, welfare initiatives for the force, and the implementation of modern technologies. He stated that such progress would not have been possible without the Chief Secretary’s guidance and support. During the ceremony, senior police officers gave a standing ovation in recognition of the Chief Secretary’s services.
