‘Nayab’ selected for competition at SCO Film Festival 2025

Pakistani actors Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan’s film Nayab has been officially selected for competition at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Film Festival 2025. The festival is part of the upcoming SCO summit and aims to promote cultural exchange and cinematic collaboration among member countries. Nayab’s selection provides the film with an opportunity to represent Pakistan on an international platform, marking a significant achievement for the country’s film industry. The selection is being seen as recognition of the quality and creative strength of Pakistani cinema. The SCO Film Festival features films from member states, offering a platform for showcasing diverse cultures and narratives. Pakistani films presented at the festival gain exposure to global audiences and contribute to establishing Pakistan’s presence in international cinema. Nayab, starring Yumna Zaidi in the lead role, has already won multiple accolades. In May 2024, the film received two awards at the prestigious World Cannes Film Festival in France. The story of Nayab revolves around a girl named Nayab from Karachi-played by Yumna Zaidi-who dreams of becoming a cricketer since childhood.
