President, PM greet nation on Islamic New Year 1447 Hijri

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have expressed best wishes for nation and Muslim Ummah on the advent of new Islamic year 1447 Hijri. In their separate messages, they prayed that the new Hijri year may bring peace, prosperity, and stability to Pakistan and the entire Muslim world. The President said the holy month of Muharram is one of the sacred months in Islam, and Allah Almighty has prohibited us from indulging in all forms of conflicts and discord during this revered month. He said the spirit of Karbala teaches us to rise above sectarianism, anarchy and despair. In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Muharram-ul-Haram reminds us of the unprecedented sacrifices rendered by our forefathers in the path of truth, justice, and the promotion of noble values. Shehbaz Sharif also prayed for peace and stability in Pakistan during the current Islamic year, especially for an end to the oppression of innocent Muslims in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
