ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt greetings to the nation and the Muslim Ummah on the arrival of the new Islamic year 1447 Hijri. Both leaders prayed for peace, stability, and prosperity for Pakistan and the wider Muslim world.
President Zardari highlighted the sacredness of the new month, noting that Allah has forbidden conflict during this time and encouraged believers to embrace piety and virtuous deeds. He called upon citizens to connect their individual lives with collective responsibility and adopt values like justice, kindness, and patience.
Emphasizing unity and brotherhood, the president stated that national solidarity is vital to overcoming social and economic challenges. He reminded the nation of the powerful lesson of Karbala, urging people to avoid disunity and sectarianism by following the example of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). He prayed for the new year to bring hope, harmony, and protection for the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed these sentiments, urging the nation to begin the new year with a renewed commitment to morality, compassion, and service to humanity. He called on people to rise as a strong, principled society that upholds the values of peace, patience, and truth.
Referring to Muharramul Haram as a month of sanctity, the prime minister praised the sacrifices made during the event of Karbala. He emphasized that the courage and truthfulness shown by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) continue to guide Muslims even today. These teachings, he said, offer important lessons for fostering interfaith harmony and social justice.
Concluding his message, PM Shehbaz prayed for an end to oppression in Palestine and Kashmir, and for regional tensions to ease. He asked for strength to build a just society and stronger national institutions, and expressed hope that Pakistan would emerge as a respected and peaceful country on the global stage.
