Bangladesh envoy visits COMSATS University

Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Pakistan, visited COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) to explore opportunities for enhanced academic collaboration. He was accompanied by Press Counsellor Md. Tayub Ali and Deputy Director COMSATS Secretariat, Farhan Ansari.

The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, Rector CUI, along with senior university officials. During the visit, the High Commissioner toured key campus facilities, including the Junaid Zaidi Library and the Centre of Micro and Nano Devices (CMND) among others.

In a meeting with university leadership, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties through academic and scientific collaboration. He noted that Bangladesh and Pakistan share deep cultural and historical ties and underscored the potential for cooperation in science, technology, and higher education particularly in the areas of Nanotechnology and Information Technology.

The High Commissioner was briefed on CUI’s commitment to internationalization and its scholarship programs for students from OIC Member States, particularly Bangladesh. He appreciated the vision of COMSATS’ founder, Nobel Laureate Prof. Abdus Salam, and expressed strong interest in joint initiatives which will build people to people level bridges between the two brotherly nations.

Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar highlighted recent MoUs signed between Pakistani and Bangladeshi institutions patronized by COMSTECH during a high-level academic delegation’s visit, and reaffirmed CUI’s support for Bangladeshi students and researchers. He said that CUI will look forward to supporting exchange of faculty and students with Bangladesh.

The visit concluded with a tour of CUI’s advanced research centers in Nanotechnology. The High Commissioner assured his full support for fostering academic linkages and student mobility between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
