Cristiano Ronaldo nears two-year contract extension with Al-Nassr until 2027

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to finalizing a two-year contract extension with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, just days before his current deal expires. The new agreement will keep the 40-year-old Portuguese captain at the club until at least 2027, allowing him to continue playing past his 42nd birthday.

This potential extension marks a significant change from Ronaldo’s recent social media post, where he wrote “the chapter is over” following Al-Nassr’s last game of the Saudi Pro League season. Despite this, sources indicate that negotiations have advanced and terms are nearly settled, signaling Ronaldo’s willingness to stay in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo’s future with the club appeared uncertain earlier when FIFA president Gianni Infantino suggested the forward might join a team competing in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. However, Ronaldo declined the offers to participate in the tournament, expressing his desire to focus on his career at Al-Nassr.

Since joining the club in January 2023, Ronaldo has been a major success, scoring 99 goals in 111 appearances. He won his second consecutive Golden Boot award last season, finishing with 35 goals in 41 matches across all competitions. His impressive performance has made him a key player for Al-Nassr both on and off the field.

Beyond football, Ronaldo is reportedly considering sports investments in the region. These business interests could further cement his long-term relationship with Saudi Arabia, indicating that his commitment extends beyond just playing for the club.

Earlier this week, Al-Nassr announced the departure of their Italian coach Stefano Pioli following a season in which the club finished third in the league, 13 points behind champions Al-Ittihad. With the coaching change, much attention now turns to Ronaldo’s contract talks, as his decision will influence Al-Nassr’s future ambitions in the coming years.
