ISLAMABAD – The Finance Bill for the fiscal year 2025-26 will be presented in the National Assembly today by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. This important step is crucial for the government to implement its financial plans starting July 1.
The National Assembly session is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Following this, the Finance Minister will formally present the Finance Bill to seek approval from lawmakers.
Passing the Finance Bill is the final and mandatory step in the federal budget process. It allows the government to move forward with its financial agenda for the new fiscal year, ensuring smooth execution of its policies.
Earlier this week, the National Assembly approved budget demands for 33 federal ministries and divisions. During the session, lawmakers passed 136 demands totaling over Rs9.95 trillion, while rejecting more than 750 cut motions from the opposition.
Key approvals included Rs 34.04 billion for the National Food Security Division, over Rs 4,814 billion for four major ministries and divisions, and Rs 356.8 billion for the Interior and Narcotics Control Division.
Additionally, the Human Rights Division and related bodies received over Rs 1.74 billion in budgetary approvals. The Finance Division was granted Rs 3.55 trillion to cover various expenditures for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The budget session reflects the government’s focus on balancing development and fiscal responsibility.
