Co-founder and Chairman of the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA), Ibrahim Amin, on Wednesday introduced a large-scale initiative launched in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to offer freelancers seamless access to online banking, confirming that over 2.37 million have registered. Talking to a local news channel, Ibrahim Amin highlighted that Pakistan currently ranks as the third-largest freelance workforce in the world, a testament to the country’s vast pool of talented professionals. He added that this growing community has immense potential to contribute even more to the national economy if provided with the right support, including access to financial services, training and clear regulatory frameworks. He emphasized that the programme not only simplifies the process of opening bank accounts but also empowers freelancers by providing them access to formal banking services and international payment channels, which are crucial for their growth and sustainability in the global marketplace.
